Any handheld imaging device has a small learning curve. However, in our experience ophthalmologists and technicians can learn MII Ret Cam imaging within 1 week without any additional training.
Following a stepwise approach for 1 week is extremely helpful to get used to the device and capture crisp pictures either by ophthalmologists or technicians.
First 2 days well dilated clear phakic eyes (Avg 5 patients /day)
Next 2 days well dilated cataractous eyes (Avg 5 patients/day)
Next 1 day well dilated pseudophakic eyes (Avg 5 patients)
Next 2 days well dilated infant eyes (Avg 10 patients /day)
The following tips are helpful
20 D lens should be scratch-free.
Gentle clicks on the camera to avoid device movement.
Click multiple pictures when your Image is focussed and clear.
Use the patient's opposite hand for fixation with another eye.
Image in lying down position in the beginning. Once you are used to it, imaging can be done in a sitting position also.
The device should be on a straight axis with the area of interest.
