Any handheld imaging device has a small learning curve. However, in our experience ophthalmologists and technicians can learn MII Ret Cam imaging within 1 week without any additional training.
Following a stepwise approach for 1 week is extremely helpful to get used to the device and capture crisp pictures either by ophthalmologists or technicians.
First 2 days well dilated clear phakic eyes (Avg 5 patients /day)
Next 2 days well dilated cataractous eyes (Avg 5 patients/day)
Next 1 day well dilated pseudophakic eyes (Avg 5 patients)
Next 2 days well dilated infant eyes (Avg 10 patients /day)
The following tips are helpful
• 20 D lens should be scratch-free.
• Gentle clicks on the camera to avoid device movement.
• Click multiple pictures when your Image is focussed and clear.
• Use the patient's opposite hand for fixation with another eye.
• Image in lying down position in the beginning. Once you are used to it, imaging can be done in a sitting position also.
• The device should be on a straight axis with the area of interest.
